Fubon Huayi Bank is a Taiwan-funded bank and the only one at present. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fubon Financial Holdings Group in Chinese mainland, with a total shareholding of 100%. Huayi Bank, the predecessor of Fubon Huayi Bank, was the first commercial bank on both sides of the Taiwan Straits. It was established in Shanghai on March 20th, 1997. On April 20 14, it was officially renamed Fubon Huayi Bank Co., Ltd. with the approval of China Banking Regulatory Commission, and began to open branches. On May 20 19, Fubon Huayi Bank was approved by Shanghai Supervision Bureau to set up a credit card business and officially started issuing credit cards.
