Xu Ruren's youth began with the birth of New China. During his study in Shanghai Jiaotong University, he was deeply taught and edified by the older generation of scientists who worked in the Department of Chemistry at that time, and developed a good style of study of burying his head in experiments and being meticulous. In the mid-1950s, when I was studying at Fudan University, I directly studied under Professor Gu Yidong, a famous inorganic chemist. He constantly broadened my knowledge and enlivened my academic thoughts. Xu Ruren is the main academic leader of inorganic chemistry (a national key discipline) in Jilin University. Before the Cultural Revolution, he was engaged in the research work of "vanadium, molybdenum polyacid" and "vanadium chemistry" and published more than 20 papers. Under the guidance of Professor Gu Yidong, in 1958, the research results of "Preparation and Application of Ammonium Polyvanadate 1∶3" and "Preparation and Dehydration of Molybdate" were published in Science Bulletin, and were compiled in detail in the book "Gmelin Handbook of Chemical Mechanics in the Federal Republic of Germany". After the downfall of the Gang of Four, from the mid-1970s, Xu Ruren saw the broad prospects for the rapid development of China's petrochemical industry, so he turned his research work to the basic research of "Zeolite Molecular Sieve Synthesis and Structural Chemistry", which is closely related to petroleum refining and petrochemical industry.
For more than 20 years, systematic and in-depth research has been carried out in the fields of "synthetic chemistry and crystallization theory of molecular sieves" and "synthetic chemistry, structure and properties of inorganic microporous crystals", and original breakthroughs have been made, which has made important contributions to China's entry into the international advanced ranks in this research field. He put forward a comprehensive view of crystallization mechanism of molecular sieve, confirmed the formation and structure of crystal nucleus in liquid phase by high energy electron diffraction for the first time, and developed a series of molecular sieve liquid phase directors. The mechanism of template action, crystallization kinetics model and crystal transformation mechanism during crystallization are put forward. He has made important contributions to the development of new inorganic microporous crystals and their chemistry. He used hydrothermal synthesis technology to synthesize more than 70 kinds of new microporous crystals in seven series, including gallium phosphate, aluminum arsenate, gallium arsenate, borate, titanate, germanium oxide and germanate, for the first time in the world, which made important contributions to expanding the pore-forming component elements of microporous crystals, discovering the diversity and related laws of structural units of microporous crystals, and developing new pore-forming synthesis reactions and preparation routes and technologies of microporous crystals. He and his research group have opened up some new inorganic synthesis routes, such as the synthesis routes of special chain-shaped, layered and microporous inorganic compounds in organic systems, and synthesized a number of brand-new compounds, such as aluminum phosphate crystal (14.5×6.2) JDF-20 with 20 yuan ring super-porous structure, which is the largest microporous substance synthesized in the world so far, and established and perfected four preparations of microporous crystal single crystals. More than 200 papers have been published in academic journals at home and abroad, including 1987 zeolite molecular sieve structure and synthesis, 1989 solid-state NMR, 199 1 inorganic synthetic chemistry. In order to comprehensively introduce China's achievements and contributions in the field of molecular sieve and microporous crystal chemistry, he collaborated with Professor Gao Zi and Dr. Xu Yan to write and publish the monograph "Progress of Zeolite Science-China Perspective" (World Science Publishing Company 1995). In the long-term work of Jilin University, Xu Ruren attached great importance to the training and education of young and middle-aged talents. In training talents, his attitude is as rigorous and meticulous as engaging in scientific research and teaching. At the same time, young people are entrusted with heavy responsibilities, let them carry heavy burdens, push them to the forefront of scientific research and teaching, encourage competition, and create necessary conditions for their growth in a more relaxed environment. Since 1978 resumed the postgraduate system, he and his research group have cultivated more than 20 doctoral students, nearly 70 master students and 4 postdoctoral researchers (including Dr. Medile from Hamburg University). Among the graduated doctors, two were awarded the title of "Doctor with Outstanding Contribution in China" by the State Education Commission and the State Council Academic Degrees Committee with 1990. Among them, from 65438 to 0994, Dr. Feng Shouhua successively won the special fund for cross-century talents of the State Education Commission, the outstanding young and middle-aged talents of the Natural Science Foundation and the outstanding youth fund of China.
Elected as an academician of the Third World Academy of Sciences
June 5438+October 2003 10, at the 14 General Assembly of the Third World Academy of Sciences (14 TWAS), Professor Xu Ruren was elected as an academician of the Third World Academy of Sciences after all the academicians were elected and deliberated by the Third World Academy of Sciences.
Academicians of the Third World Academy of Sciences are selected from famous scientists in academies, national research councils, universities and research institutions in third world countries and scientific organizations in developed countries. They have all made outstanding contributions to the scientific development of third world countries in their respective disciplines. The Third World Academy of Sciences elects about 40 new academicians every year, with a total of 589 academicians from 75 countries and regions around the world, including 48 academicians from developing countries, 108 foreign academicians from or working in developed countries, and 17 Nobel Prize winners.
Academician Xu Ruren of China Academy of Sciences
Xu Ruren, Professor of Chemistry Department of Jilin University, Academician of China Academy of Sciences. Wife Pang, eldest son Ying Xu, eldest daughter and second daughter Xu Hong.
Professor Xu Ruren and Professor Pang are famous chemists in China. During their decades of common life, the husband and wife care about each other, understand each other and support each other, and have made outstanding achievements in their careers.
Professor Xu Ruren has published more than 400 papers and 3 monographs in international and domestic journals, and won 1993 He Liang Heli Science and Technology Progress Chemistry Award, 1986 and 1990 national-level outstanding young scientists and advanced scientific and technological workers in national universities respectively. Together with his lover Professor Pang, he won two first prizes for scientific and technological progress from the State Education Commission and one third prize from the National Natural Science Foundation. Two won the second prize of scientific and technological progress of the State Education Commission, the chemistry prize of scientific and technological progress of the State Education Commission and the first prize of scientific and technological progress of the State Ministry of Education.
In addition, Professor Pang has published more than 350 papers and 2 monographs in key journals at home and abroad, and is one of the main leaders of key disciplines of inorganic chemistry. At the same time, Mr. Pang and his colleagues in the laboratory worked hard to establish a high-temperature and high-pressure hydrothermal synthesis and testing laboratory with relatively complete experimental technology in China. From 19 1 to domestic and foreign, 19 1995 was expanded into the key laboratory of inorganic synthesis and preparative chemistry of the State Education Commission.
