Generally speaking, closed-end funds cannot exist indefinitely. The duration of a closed-end fund is stipulated in the fund contract, which is generally 15 years from the effective date of the fund contract. For the duration of a specific fund, investors can inquire about the fund contract.

After the expiration of closed-end funds, there are generally two ways to deal with them:

Maturity liquidation;

Become an open-end fund (closed to open). Closed-end funds traded in the securities market are converted into open-end funds, which can be directly purchased and redeemed at the net value.
