To this end, we have carried out a series of projects, including:
Improve the health and nutrition status of pregnant women and children, improve the service level and formulate relevant policies.
Strengthen the implementation of children's immunization to prevent children's injuries. Our education plan aims at helping children in remote rural areas and ethnic minorities in China. We also help children in emergencies to resume classes in time after the disaster.
We have carried out a wide range of projects, including:
Create a child-friendly school and create a safe, happy and inclusive participation environment;
Provide support for children's development through parent education and outreach services;
Improve the enrollment rate of high-quality preschool education and kindergartens;
Enhance teenagers' awareness of healthy and responsible social behavior and employment preparation;
Promote safety education and disaster prevention education in schools and rapid response in emergencies. UNICEF China Office and its partners are committed to protecting and caring for children in difficult situations, including abandoned children, orphans, street children, abducted children, children subjected to violence, abuse and exploitation, and disabled children.
Our child protection project benefits all children in China, mainly children in remote rural areas, ethnic minority children and urban street children. Our projects cover many fields, including:
Help street children reintegrate into society through pilot projects,
Promote the development of day care centers for disabled children,
Promote the implementation of services for migrant children, such as education and medical care,
Cooperate with relevant institutions to provide technical support for handling procedures and operational measures involving child trafficking.
In the work of protecting poor children, the Foundation has adopted comprehensive and integrated methods and strategies to minimize the risks they face. We support the development and formulation of relevant policies and the provision of community services, establish a comprehensive child protection system, effectively monitor the situation of children in distress, enable the public to report child abuse incidents to functional departments, and assist children to obtain needed services. Our water and sanitation projects help children all over China, mainly in remote rural areas, ethnic minorities and emergencies. We have carried out a wide range of projects, including:
Water and sanitation education in schools;
Promote good hygiene habits, such as washing hands with soap;
Determine the water source polluted by arsenic and fluorine;
Mitigating and adapting to the impacts of climate change; And coping with and preventing drought. The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) cooperates with the Government of China to respond to the needs of children affected by disasters and support and improve the child-friendly disaster prevention and preparedness plan. Our emergency and disaster relief work has helped children affected by droughts, mudslides and earthquakes.
Our work includes:
Assess the urgency of the incident to judge the needs of children in post-disaster recovery and reconstruction;
Meet the emergency needs of children after the disaster, and provide tents, bedding, tent classrooms, daily necessities, medicines, medical equipment and safe drinking water facilities for children to resume classes in time;
Promote sustainable and child-centered post-disaster recovery and reconstruction;
Through school safety training for teachers and principals, and cooperating with the school to implement safety planning and evacuation drills, the disaster risk that children may face in the future can be reduced.
