Dual vocational education in Germany: The so-called "dual vocational education" means that the whole training process is carried out in factories, enterprises and national vocational schools (BBS for short). This educational model focuses on enterprise training, and the practice in enterprises is closely combined with theoretical teaching in vocational schools.
Since the early 1980s, the Ministry of Education of China has cooperated with relevant German institutions (such as the Hans Cedell Foundation and the German Technical Cooperation Corporation) to implement the "dual vocational education" pilot project. The Chinese and German prime ministers signed a joint initiative on vocational education cooperation in 1993, which shows that the two governments attach importance to this cooperation. According to incomplete statistics, there are more than 30 German-funded vocational education projects in China, belonging to different departments. The Ministry of Education has also identified six cities, including Shanghai, as pilot cities.
