Zhao Zhouqiao, also known as Anji Bridge, is said to have been designed and built by Li Chun, a stonemason in the Sui Dynasty. It has been over 1300 years. It is the oldest existing stone arch bridge in China and the earliest stone arch bridge built in the world. Zhao Zhouqiao is located in the south of Zhao County, Hebei Province, across the Weihe River. It was built from the last years of Emperor Kai of Sui Dynasty to the early years of Daye (before 605 AD). The total length is 50.82 meters, the span is 37.02 meters and the bridge width is more than 9 meters. Divided into three strands, the car is in the middle and pedestrians are on both sides. It is the largest stone arch bridge in ancient China and even in the world. The bridge is stable, majestic, light and beautiful, and it is a high-quality product with high scientific and perfect artistry. This kind of bridge didn't appear in Europe until14th century, that is, the Sylar Bridge on the Cote River. Sylar Bridge was built more than 700 years later than Zhao Zhouqiao, but it has been destroyed. Since 1300 years ago, Zhao Zhouqiao has withstood the test of earthquake, flood and wind and rain, and it is still magnificent.

The preciousness of Zhao Zhouqiao lies in its unique design. Such a long stone arch bridge, but there is no pier support below, the bridge foundation is located on both sides of the river, and the whole bridge body is a single-hole stone arch bridge, which looks like a Changhong across the river from below. In ancient times, Xuhe had great potential. Every summer and autumn, the rivers of several rivers meet here to form a turbulent torrent. If the bridge hole is too small and the water flow is not smooth, it will not only easily lead to flood in the upstream, but also may destroy the bridge. A single-span bridge with a large span solved this problem. Moreover, two small stone arches were added to the shoulders at both ends of the large stone arch, creating a new type of open-shouldered bridge in the world. It not only makes the bridge more symmetrical, light and beautiful, but also reduces the area of the bridge that blocks the flood and reduces the load of the big arch.

The exterior decoration of Zhao Zhouqiao is also an exquisite work of art, with stone railings carved with ancient and exquisite patterns on both sides of the bridge deck. Some of these patterns are intertwined with two dragons, still spitting water in their mouths; Ssangyong's front paws are balanced with each other, and the faucet looks back and sees far away; Other sculptures have two dragons playing with pearls. The same animals are diverse.

Zhao Zhouqiao is an outstanding creation of ancient architectural engineering in China and a precious legacy of our country. After liberation, the Party and the government made a comprehensive and thorough restoration of Zhao Zhouqiao. 196 1 was listed as a national key cultural relics protection unit, and the ancient Zhao Zhouqiao was rejuvenated after renovation.
