How to establish a "friend of nature"?
Liang Congjie's concern for environmental problems stems from an accident. In the early 1980s, Liang Congjie was editing Encyclopedia Knowledge magazine, and a manuscript caught his attention. The author's perspective is very special, expressing his concern about the future environmental problems in China through the development of township enterprises. At that time, the voice of China's reform and opening up became louder and louder, and the township enterprises in China made rapid progress, but the author saw hidden dangers in this excitement. In the article, the author pointedly points out that small-scale and poorly equipped township enterprises will not only promote economic development, but also become pollution sources and the chief culprit of environmental impact and destruction. Liang Congjie read the article over and over again. It is this contribution that triggered Liang Congjie's thinking about China's environmental problems for the first time, and made him realize that China's extensive economic development model has brought heavy pressure on resources and environment. Liang Congjie said that the author was his first teacher, and it was that article that attracted his attention to the living environment.

1993 The first spontaneous folk green seminar was held in Linglong Garden, Balizhuang, China. At that time, China's environmental problems were not paid as much attention as they are now. At the Linglong Garden Party, a member's speech shocked everyone: If all our 65.438+0.2 billion compatriots aim at reaching the living standard of Americans, according to the calculation of logistics experts, the resources needed will be 60 times as much as now. Who would believe that this land that has nurtured us for 5,000 years can still be milked 60 times? The largest population devours the least resources, and China's future will face double dangers. These words hurt everyone deeply. Liang Congjie and his friends realized that they had to do something for environmental protection. This day is June 5th-World Environment Day. Led by Liang Congjie, this group of non-professional environmentalists decided to make a bold move-set up the first non-governmental environmental protection organization (NGO) in China.

NGO, English "non? The abbreviation of the word "governmentorganization" refers to a non-governmental organization that is not regarded as a government department, association, foundation, charitable trust, non-profit company or other legal person and is not for profit under a specific legal system.

The rise of non-governmental organizations around the world began in the 1980s. With the global population, poverty and environmental problems becoming increasingly prominent, people find that the sustainable development of human beings can not be solved only by traditional government and market. In response, non-governmental organizations have developed rapidly and formed a new pole of society.

NGO is not a government and is not driven by power; Nor is it driven by economy, especially economic interests. The driving force of NGO is voluntary service.

The economic sources of non-governmental organizations are mainly social and private donations. For example, the United States has an extremely strong private foundation to support various NGOs in the United States. At the same time, the state has established a tax deduction system for donations to encourage donations. On March 3rd1994, 3rd1Approved by the General Office of the Ministry of Culture, the Society Department of the Ministry of Civil Affairs registered, and the "Friends of Nature Green Culture Branch of Chinese Cultural Institute" was established (hereinafter referred to as "Friends of Nature"). For that moment, Liang Congjie traveled for nine months.

On the day when Beijing No.8 Middle School announced "Friends of Nature", a sociologist said excitedly, "We finally have our own green organization in China." Liang Congjie smiled and corrected: "We are non-governmental organizations. We should influence people around us from actions and help the government do a good job in environmental protection. "

At the beginning of the conference, Liang Congjie first took out his savings to fund the initial activities and set up an office in his home. 1September, 1995, Friends of Nature finally had its own office-a room temporarily borrowed by a company in Beijing as a temporary office.

At a seminar on 1999, someone mentioned the phenomenon of deforestation, and then the topic turned to the use of disposable chopsticks which is closely related to people's lives. Liang Congjie said, even we are using disposable chopsticks, how can we affect people around us! So, from then on, "friends of nature" will bring their own chopsticks when they go out to eat.

For more than ten years, Friends of Nature not only submitted numerous environmental protection proposals and suggestions to the national environmental protection department, but also solved many problems in time. In addition, under the leadership and organization of Liang Congjie, the following work was carried out:

1? For the first time in China, mass environmental education activities were held, and "green lectures" were organized to popularize environmental knowledge for members and the public, with an audience of more than 2,000 people. One of the most popular environmental protection children's books in recent years, Earth Home, was published.

2? For the first time, we held an environmental education exchange training activity for private primary and secondary school teachers, and twice organized primary and secondary school teachers to visit and study in Germany and the Netherlands.

3? China conducted the "Investigation of Newspaper Environmental Awareness" for the first time. For three consecutive years, the environmental protection reports of major domestic newspapers were systematically counted and analyzed, and their environmental awareness was scientifically evaluated.

4? Through the China People's Political Consultative Conference and other channels, put forward suggestions to the relevant central departments on major environmental issues such as Beijing's environmental pollution control and Heyuan ecological protection.

5? For the first time, China organized volunteers to plant trees in the Three North Areas at their own expense, which lasted for many years.

6? In order to publicize the importance of protecting wild birds, China organized the first mass amateur bird watching group.

7? Actively participate in and directly report the situation to the relevant leaders of the central government, and make contributions to the protection of the virgin forest in Deqin County, northwest Yunnan Province and its national first-class protected animal, Yunnan golden monkey.

8? Actively publicize to the society the importance and urgency of protecting the ecology at the source of the Yangtze River and the wildlife on the plateau (especially the Tibetan antelope); Actively support anti-poaching activities in Hoh Xil area, and suggest and promote government departments to take important measures to protect Tibetan antelopes.

9? In order to protect ecological resources and stop the wave of hunting wild animals on a large scale, 1999 organized a number of environmental protection groups in Beijing to launch a proposal of "Don't buy, cook or eat game".

10? Communicate with foreign environmental organizations and media to publicize China's environmental policies and non-governmental environmental protection activities.
