The Foreign Languages Department, the predecessor of Foreign Languages Institute, was founded in June 1929, and it is the oldest foreign language teaching unit in Anhui Province. At present, the school has English department, Russian department, Japanese department, French department, foreign language teaching department and foreign language and literature research institute. The School of Foreign Languages has two complete and independent teaching office buildings in Huajin Campus, with a total construction area of 1.37 million square meters, and teaching office buildings with usable area of 0.071.10 million square meters in Tian Jiabing South Building and Comprehensive Building in Zheshan Campus. The School of Foreign Languages adheres to the motto of "respecting teachers, valuing teaching, being knowledgeable and steadfast", drawing lessons from the international advanced education and teaching mode, adhering to the school-running concept of "student-oriented", adhering to the guidance of social needs, consolidating students' professional foundation, improving students' practical ability, cultivating students' innovative consciousness and forming their own school-running characteristics. The profound humanistic heritage and fruitful educational achievements are well-known at home and abroad. In recent years, students in our college have frequently won gold and silver prizes in international, national and provincial professional skill competitions. The training quality of college graduates is relatively high. Every year, about five graduate students are sent to domestic first-class foreign language institutions such as Shanghai International Studies University, and the admission rate for postgraduate entrance examination is nearly 30%, of which 75% are admitted to 2 1 1 and 985 universities. The employment rate has been as high as 100% for two consecutive years, ranking first in the school.
