Securities investment funds originated in 1868 Britain, then flourished in the United States, and now they are all over the world. In different countries, the names of investment funds are different. Britain calls it "unit trust and investment fund", the United States calls it "mutual fund" and Japan calls it "securities investment trust fund". These different appellations are not much different in connotation and operation.
