Indonesia and Malaysia are actively trying to save these animals, and the Sai Pillok Orangutan Rehabilitation Center in Borneo, Malaysia is part of a series of rescue plans. Since 1964, this rehabilitation center has been helping and protecting orangutans and teaching young orangutans climbing skills. It is a wildlife protection agency directly under the Ministry of Tourism and Environment Development of Malaysia.
Ape survival foundation
The Borneo Ape Survival Foundation (BOS) also plays an irreplaceable role. The organization was founded in 199 1 and was promoted by some Indonesian elites and the Dutch royal family. The purpose is to introduce orangutans to the public, promote the rescue and protection of orangutan habitats, and raise public awareness of orangutan protection through information dissemination and education and publicity programs. Experts and employees of the Foundation can be seen in many orangutan habitats in Sumatra and Borneo.
