Discipline construction of the School of Landscape Architecture, Northeast Forestry University

The discipline of Garden Plants and Ornamental Horticulture at the Frontier of Discipline Development was approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council. It was founded in 1996 and began to recruit master's degree students. It was approved as a doctoral program in 2001 and a key discipline of the State Forestry Administration in 2006.

In 2009, it was approved as a national key discipline.

After continuous construction and development, the discipline has formed four stable research directions: garden plant germplasm resources research, garden plant genetic breeding, garden plant application, and garden plant cultivation and management.

This discipline is based on the urban vegetation characteristics and plant application status in cold areas of the north, combined with the rapid development characteristics of landscape architecture and people's demand for plant landscape diversity, focusing on cold area vegetation and Northeastern characteristic plant resources, focusing on cold resistance, drought resistance and tolerance.

Research on saline-alkali ornamental germplasm resources, research on the ecological benefits of garden plants such as oxygen uptake, dust retention, and sterilization, research on plant configuration patterns based on different functional characteristics, research on cultivation technology, research on plant landscape evaluation, research on color preservation of dried flowers, and research on plant culture

.

Now it has formed distinctive features in the fields of research on the germplasm resources of northern characteristic ornamental plants, research on the ecological benefits of garden plants, color preservation of dried flowers, and research on the art of flower arrangement.

It has received various projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Ministry of Education’s Overseas Study Abroad Return Fund, the State Forestry Administration’s 948 Introduction Project, the Heilongjiang Provincial Natural Science Foundation Project, the Harbin Municipal Science and Technology Commission Fund Project, the Harbin Municipal Science and Technology Commission Research Project, and the Campus Scientific Research Fund.

At the same time, it has won a number of awards at the provincial and ministerial levels and above, and obtained a number of patents in the application research of dried flowers.

The discipline attaches great importance to domestic and foreign academic exchange activities. It has hired experts and scholars from the United States, Japan, Canada, Denmark, South Korea and other countries to give lectures and inspections, and has carried out a large number of cooperation and research activities.

Subject research direction 1), the research on garden plant germplasm resources is based on plant taxonomy, plant ecology, plant geography, plant genetics, and molecular biology. It mainly studies the geography of garden plant (wild or cultivated) germplasm resources.

Distribution, biodiversity, and systems and evolution of ornamental plants.

Conduct research on the collection, protection, preservation, development and utilization of germplasm resources.

2) Vegetation restoration and reconstruction Based on the genetics and breeding of garden plants and wild plants, we conduct research on vegetation restoration and reconstruction.

Focusing on plant stress resistance (including drought resistance, salt tolerance, cold resistance, disease resistance, etc.), through conventional tests such as screening and introduction of plant resources, and at the same time conducting research on plant stress resistance molecular biology.

Explore the stress resistance mechanism of plants.

At the same time, new horticultural varieties are cultivated through genetic engineering.

3) Genetic breeding of garden plants is based on plant genetics, plant ecology, plant physiology, and molecular biology, and studies the ornamental traits (flower color, flower type, leaf color, leaf type, etc.) and physiological traits (drought resistance,

cold resistance, disease resistance, insect resistance, etc.) genetic rules and regulatory mechanisms.

Conventional variety selection, introduction and molecular breeding techniques are used to genetically improve important flower varieties and cultivate new varieties.

4) The physiological ecology of garden plants mainly studies photosynthesis, respiration, transpiration, energy metabolism, water regulation, material transport, hormone regulation and plant resistance under adverse conditions (including resistance to low temperature, resistance to water and moisture, and resistance to disease).

insect, salt-alkali resistance, shade resistance) and its relationship with the environment and its mechanism.

Study the morphology, growth, developmental physiology of different ornamental plants and their relationship with the environment, as well as the adaptation of plants to the environment and the ecological effects they produce.

5) Flower germplasm resources mainly studies the investigation, collection, preservation and utilization of flower germplasm resources (wild or cultivated); the classification, biological and ecological characteristics, introduction and domestication of flower germplasm resources, and the breeding and promotion of improved varieties.

.

6) Application of garden plants: Mainly studies landscape planning and design with plant landscaping as the main body, and the theory, technology and methods of forest park planning.

Theories and methods of landscape analysis and evaluation.

7), Garden plant cultivation and management mainly studies the cultivation and breeding of garden plants, the relationship between plants and ecological factors, the basic theory of garden plant maintenance and cultivation management measures, and gives full play to the comprehensive benefits of plants in improving the environment, recreational viewing and economic production.

.

Main features 1), garden plant germplasm resources 2), cutting-edge development of vegetation restoration and reconstruction discipline. This discipline was approved as a national first-level doctoral discipline in 2011. It has a long-term accumulation of discipline construction and has now formed regional ecological and landscape planning and design.

, landscape architecture planning and design, landscape architecture theory and technology, and garden plant applications are the main research directions.

This discipline combines the major needs of my country's urban garden construction and the characteristics of cold urban environments and vegetation, aims at the scientific frontier of landscape architecture research, focuses on the cross-integration of multi-disciplinary theory and technology, and focuses on landscape architecture planning and design, urban ecological evaluation and Research on planning and regional ecological landscape pattern planning provides theoretical basis and technical support for the construction of urban ecological gardens and the construction of human settlements.
