Shanghai University of Science and Technology is a full-time ordinary institution of higher learning jointly organized and built by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government and the China Academy of Sciences. The Shanghai Municipal People's Government is responsible for the daily management. Since its establishment, the school has made great efforts to build and develop into a small-scale, high-level and international research-oriented innovative university.
The birth and growth of Shanghai University of Science and Technology has always been in the same direction as China's reform and opening up and Shanghai Zhangjiang's innovation and development. The strategic idea of establishing Shanghai University of Science and Technology began in 2004. In order to better serve the national development strategy, based on the concept of "integration of science and education", the Shanghai Municipal People's Government and China Academy of Sciences began to plan to build a research university in Pudong.
Located in Zhangjiang Hi-tech Park, Pudong New Area, Shanghai University of Science and Technology is an important part of Zhangjiang Comprehensive National Science Center under construction, which integrates Zhangjiang Laboratory, Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Source, National protein Scientific Research (Shanghai) Facility and other national scientific research institutions and large scientific facilities.
The campus covers an area of about 900 mu, with a total construction area of about 700,000 square meters. Campus construction fully embodies the planning and design concept of "student-oriented, integration of teaching and scientific research, and green intelligence". Shanghai University of Science and Technology Instrument Platform:
University of Science and Technology Shanghai signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement with scientific research institutes affiliated to Shanghai Branch of Chinese Academy of Sciences. The educational resources, scientific research facilities and technical platforms of universities and research institutes are open to each other, sharing resources and complementing each other.
As the core supporting unit of Zhangjiang Comprehensive National Science Center, the school is cooperating with the Institute of Shanghai Branch of Chinese Academy of Sciences and other units, and is responsible for or participating in the construction of soft X-ray free electron laser user devices, living cell structure and function imaging and other line station projects, ultra-short laser experimental devices, and Shanghai Light Source Phase II line station projects.
Lead the planning and construction of hard X-ray free electron laser device, undertake the key construction work of scientific and technological innovation centers such as "multi-space and multi-time scale biological imaging platform" and "machine learning and virtual reality platform", and implement a series of major scientific research projects.
