Beijing Technology and Business University was formed in June 1999 by the merger of Beijing Institute of Light Industry, Beijing Business School and Machinery Industry Management Cadre College. Beijing Business School has been subordinate to the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Internal Trade. In 1959, the Ministry of Commerce was approved by the State Council to establish the Central Business School, and in 196 it was renamed Beijing Business School. Beijing Institute of Light Industry was founded in 1958.
