Xin Yuan was born in Beijing, China on 1980. She studied in the Department of International Politics of Peking University Institute of International Relations, a well-known university, and taught herself communication. After obtaining a bachelor's degree in law in Peking University, Xin Yuan went to the School of International and Public Affairs of Columbia University in the United States for further study and obtained a master's degree in public economic policy.

After graduating from Columbia University, Xin worked as an intern in Edelman PR, China Institute and other non-profit social organizations, and then worked as an investment analyst in new york Millennium Partners. In 2007, Xinyuan returned to China and worked as an investment manager at Hao Capital. From 2008 to 20 1 1, Xinyuan also published many articles on economy and society in some well-known media, covering many topics such as China's economy, people's livelihood and development.
