South China Agricultural University, referred to as Huanong for short, is a national key university with the advantages of agricultural science and life science and the characteristics of tropical and subtropical regional agricultural research. It is a provincial university jointly established by the Guangdong Provincial People's Government and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. It is a university built for the "2 1 1 Project" and a high-level university in Guangdong Province.

By July, 20 18, the Tianhe headquarters of the school was 4,407 mu, and the Zengcheng teaching and research base was 3,863 mu, with a total construction area of1370,000 square meters. At present, there are 26 colleges (departments), 95 undergraduate majors, 1 1 postdoctoral mobile stations and 12 doctors.
