South China Agricultural University, referred to as Huanong for short, is a national key university with the advantages of agricultural science and life science and the characteristics of tropical and subtropical regional agricultural research. It is a provincial university jointly established by the Guangdong Provincial People's Government and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. It is a university built for the "2 1 1 Project" and a high-level university in Guangdong Province.
By July, 20 18, the Tianhe headquarters of the school was 4,407 mu, and the Zengcheng teaching and research base was 3,863 mu, with a total construction area of1370,000 square meters. At present, there are 26 colleges (departments), 95 undergraduate majors, 1 1 postdoctoral mobile stations and 12 doctors.
As of July, 20 18, the school has more than 3,400 faculty members, including professors and associate professors 1500, including 2 academicians of China Academy of Sciences, 1 academician of China Academy of Engineering 1 person, 1 imported academician 1 person, 5 members of the discipline evaluation team of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee and 9 professors of Changjiang Scholar Award Scheme.
Scientific research achievements of South China Agricultural University:
In 20 17, three scientific and technological achievements sponsored by the school won the national harvest award for agriculture, animal husbandry and fishery; Eight scientific and technological achievements won the Guangdong Agricultural Technology Promotion Award; 15 won the Guangdong Science and Technology Award 20 16, among which 7 were in charge and 8 participated. Among the award-winning projects hosted by the school, 2 first prizes, 2 second prizes and 3 third prizes were won.
Journal of South China Agricultural University (Natural Science Edition) has columns such as overview, agronomy, horticulture, soil and fertilizer, plant protection, biology, forestry, animal science and veterinary medicine, agricultural engineering and food science. It was selected as the core journal of comprehensive agricultural science in China by Overview of China Core Journals.
