Approved by the State Council of the People's Republic of China, it is held in Xiamen, China from September 8th to 11th every year.

The CIFIT takes "bringing in" and "going out" as its themes, and its main features are "highlighting the national and international nature, highlighting investment negotiations and investment policy publicity, highlighting the coordinated development of national and regional economies, and highlighting economic and trade exchanges with Taiwan."

It is currently the only international investment promotion event in China with the purpose of promoting two-way investment. It is also the only largest investment exhibition in the world certified by the International Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI).

The main contents of the CIFIT include: investment and trade exhibitions, international investment forums, a series of seminars on hot investment issues, and investment negotiations based on project matchmaking meetings.

The CIFIT not only comprehensively displays and introduces the investment environment, investment policies, investment projects and corporate products of China and mainland China's provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Macao Special Administrative Region, but also attracts investments from dozens of countries and regions.
