Ding Guangsheng's Advocate of Editology

Ding Guangsheng is very rigorous in writing papers. He wrote a paper on the importance of biostatistics in anesthesiology in the United States. After writing it, he revised his typing every Sunday and submitted it to American journals three years later. As a result, the editorial department published it without changing a word, which attracted the attention of the medical community. Ding Guangsheng has published more than 1 papers. In 198, he founded acta pharmacologica sinica and served as editor-in-chief. He introduced many innovations, for example, he first introduced the International Uniform Requirements for Submission of Biomedical Journals in China, which included the order of English dates, the foreign language writing of China people's names, postal codes, keywords, the international system of units, and many formats. Only the "Notes for Submission" was six pages in detail. In 1982, he founded the journal "New Drugs and Clinics" and served as editor-in-chief.

Ding Guangsheng's requirements for running a journal are concise and to the point. In September, 1987, he wrote an inscription at the invitation of the Research Association of Natural Science Journals of Chinese Universities: "Running a school depends on publishing style, which requires both the spirit of reform and innovation and a scientific and serious attitude." Acta pharmacologica sinica has been listed as one of the 1 core journals in China by the American Science Citation Index. There are only two kinds of periodicals in China included in Current Con-tents/Life Sciences: acta pharmacologica sinica and China Science. In July, 199, the Expert Committee of Science Publishing Fund of Chinese Academy of Sciences rated acta pharmacologica sinica as the first kind of key supported periodical. Ding Guangsheng thinks editing is a science. He actively advocated the establishment of a new discipline, editorial science. In 1983, with his participation, the Preparatory Committee of Editors Society of Sci-tech Journals was established, and it was formally established in 1987. Ding Guangsheng was elected as the vice chairman. He also created a new English word, editokogy, which won recognition and praise from outside China. ActaEdi-tokogica, founded in 1989, adopted this word, and Ding Guangsheng was the deputy editor of the newspaper.
