Retirement can be applied for under the following circumstances: (1) Male cadres and workers are over 60 years old, female cadres are over 55 years old, and female workers are over 50 years old, and have 10 consecutive years of service or working years.
(2) Employees engaged in underground, high-altitude, high-temperature, heavy physical labor and other types of work harmful to health, men must be over 55 years old, women must be over 45 years old, and have consecutive working seniority or working years of more than 10 years.
(3) Employees who are over 50 years old for men and 45 years old for women, who have continuous service or more than 10 years of service, and who have been certified by the hospital and confirmed by the Labor Appraisal Committee as having completely lost the ability to work.
(4) Disabled due to work, proven by the hospital (worker and confirmed by the Labor Appraisal Committee) to have completely lost the ability to work.
According to the "Regulations on Work-related Injury Insurance" (effective from January 1, 2004), if an employee becomes disabled due to work and is identified as a grade one to grade four disability, he or she will retain the labor relationship, quit the job, and enjoy monthly disability allowances.
; After an employee injured at work reaches the retirement age and goes through the retirement procedures, the disability allowance will be stopped and he will enjoy basic pension insurance benefits.
If the basic pension insurance benefit is lower than the disability allowance, the work-related injury insurance fund will make up the difference.

Including crane drivers, rigging workers, signal conductors, installation and maintenance workers; 4. Driving motor vehicles within the enterprise.
Including drivers of various types of motor vehicles driving in enterprises, production areas such as docks and freight yards, and construction sites; 5. Elevated erection operations.
Including erection, dismantling and maintenance workers at heights of more than 2 meters, and surface cleaning workers of high-rise buildings (structures); 6. Boiler operations (including water quality testing).
Including pressure boiler operators and boiler water quality test workers; 7. Pressure vessel operations.
Including pressure vessel fillers, inspectors, transportation escorts, and large air compressor operators; 8. Refrigeration operations.

Including coal shearer drivers, tunnel boring machine drivers, rock rake drivers, rock drill drivers; 15. Mine rescue operations; 16. Hazardous goods operations.
Operators, transport escorts, and storage custodians containing hazardous chemicals, civilian explosives, and radioactive materials; 17. Other operations approved by the State Administration of Industry and Commerce.
Submit materials and fill out the "Retirees Approval Form" and provide the following materials: 1. Employee file (material that can fully reflect the employee's work resume); 2. Copy of the employee's personal ID card; 3. Two recent half-inch photos of the employee without a hat.
The former Ministry of Labor of the People’s Republic of China designated people who engage in underground, high-altitude, high-temperature, extremely heavy physical labor, or other work harmful to health as special types of work, and clarified that the scope of special types of work shall be determined by the competent authorities of each industry.
Personnel engaged in special types of work that comply with national regulations can retire five years in advance.
