These are landmark events of China's opening to the outside world, and they are also related to Switzerland.
The first is to promote the process of China-Sweden Free Trade Area. 20 10 when I visited Switzerland, both sides agreed to speed up the preparation of the free trade zone. For more than three years, the relevant departments of the two countries have been pushing forward the negotiations intensively, carrying out nine rounds and finally ending the negotiations. With this step, Switzerland will become the first country among the 20 largest economies in Europe and even the world to reach a free trade agreement with China, which is of great significance.
The second is to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the financial field between the two sides. Switzerland is known as the country with the highest bank density because of its rich financial and management experience. It is an objective need for the development of China's open economy to strengthen cooperation with Switzerland in financial supervision, macro-policies and the improvement of the capital market system. China is deepening the reform and opening-up of the financial industry, including steadily advancing the interest rate marketization reform and RMB capital account convertibility, establishing the overseas investment system of individual investors and improving the financial supervision mechanism, which will provide new opportunities for the interactive development of financial enterprises in the two countries. At the same time, China and Sweden can work together in international financial institutions such as the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank to play the role of "1+ 1 greater than 2", maintain international financial stability and promote world economic growth.
The third is to further enhance mutual trust and understanding between the two countries. How high Sino-Swiss relations and pragmatic cooperation can reach depends not only on whether we can seize new opportunities, but also on whether we can improve the level of mutual trust and understanding. Switzerland was one of the first western countries to establish diplomatic relations with New China. After the reform and opening up in China, the first industrial joint venture was established in cooperation with Switzerland, which recognized China's market economy status among European countries earlier. All these constitute the basis of mutual trust. In order to make Sino-Swiss cooperation better and further, we still have a lot to do. I hope that this visit will not only deepen the understanding and mutual trust between leaders, but also enhance people's understanding of each other's countries and sow more seeds of friendship in the vast world of people-to-people exchanges.
