Zhang Wen is the founder of Children’s Hope Rescue Foundation and the vice president of Children’s Hope International.
She is the mother of five children, including three adopted orphans.
She is a professional social worker who founded an organization to rescue orphans and disabled children. Through her organization, in the past 19 years, nearly 5,000 poor and disabled orphans around the world have been treated, and 7,000 orphans have been welcomed into the arms of new families.
She is also a radical child protection activist who has been controversial for calling for stripping parents of abusive children of custody rights and calling for parents to be allowed to give up their children without fault.
Parents don’t understand. They think social workers are just the job of the old ladies wearing red hoops in neighborhood committees.
Why would a graduate from a major university do this?
Some relatives and friends heard that I was doing overseas adoption work and thought I was "selling children." After all, I was paid to do this.
But I don't want to respond. Let them go. As long as I help a child find a home, I will have a happy sense of accomplishment.
