Mozilla Firefox is a web browser developed by Mozilla Foundation and hundreds of volunteers. Originally known as "Phoenix", it was later renamed as "Mozilla Firebird" and later changed to its current name.
Firefox is a lightweight, fast, simple and highly extensible browser developed by Mozilla Foundation (different from Mozilla Suite). Firefox has always been the focus of Mozilla's development, and will become the official browser of Mozilla Foundation, and may become a part of Mozilla Suite (together with Mozilla Thunderbird email client * * *).
Firefox project was originally an experimental project of Mozilla browser project in Dave Hyatt and Blake Ross. They believe that the Mozilla browser project is dragged down by the commercial demand sponsored by Netscape Communications, and there is an excessive spread of functions for developers. At present, the project development is presided over by Ben Goodger.
exploit
Mozilla Firefox maintains the cross-platform characteristics of the original Mozilla browser and uses XML user interface language. The use of XML makes it possible to extend the browser by using interface themes and extensions. The development and installation of these extensions have caused some security problems. So when Firefox 0.9 was released, Mozilla Foundation also released Mozilla Update website, which provided "recognized" interface themes and extensions.
The use of XUL distinguishes Firefox from other browsers based on Mozilla's Gecko typesetting engine (such as Galeon, Epiphany, K-Meleon and Camino) and most other browsers that use the original operating platform interface. Mozilla Foundation is proud of Gecko's standard compatibility.
Future Mozilla versions are expected to include Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Thunderbird, which is an independent e-mail software with a core similar to Mozilla Firefox and will replace the current set of applications "Mozilla" (codenamed "SeaMonkey"). Finally, all the official software of Mozilla Foundation will focus on independent browsers and email software, but the Foundation expects volunteers and corporate users to continue to maintain SeaMonkey integrated applications. Mozilla Firefox has deleted some functions and most of the user interfaces called "software extensions" in SeaMonkey integrated applications.
On February 5th, 2004, AMS, a business and IT consulting company, classified Mozilla Firefox (then Firebird) as an open source product of "Tier 1" (Keating, 2004). This means that AMS believes that Firebird has almost no risk and excellent technology.
Subsequent version development
The next version of Firefox 3 released its first developer beta on February 8, 2006, codenamed "Gran Paradiso", which is the name of a national park in Italy.
