In 2001, with the help of relevant national and provincial departments, Kweichow Moutai won the title of "National Geographical Indication Protected Product". On September 19, 2007, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine and the National Standardization Administration Committee issued GB/T18356-2007 "Geographical Indication Products: Kweichow Moutai" (Note: This standard is the national standard of the People's Republic of China, (hereinafter referred to as "Moutai Standard").
The standard specifies the particularity of Kweichow Moutai geographical indication products: "prominent sauce aroma, elegant and delicate, mellow wine body, long aftertaste, long-lasting aroma in the empty cup", with "specific quality and reputation" .
The standard also stipulates the brewing environment, materials, technology, and region of Kweichow Moutai. It defines Kweichow Moutai as using local high-quality waxy sorghum, wheat, and water as raw materials, and in Guizhou Province. Within the specific geographical scope of Moutai Town, Renhuai City, blended liquor is produced according to the traditional craftsmanship of Kweichow Moutai. < /p>
