Historical evolution
According to "The Name of Today's County": "Tang Zhi, the place name is Ducun, facing Jianchang in the distance and Nanchang in the near. Hence the name Duchang."
The Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties were the ancient Yangzhou territory, and the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods were the Chu and Wu territories, belonging to Fanyi. In the twenty-sixth year of the First Emperor of Qin (221 BC), the country was divided into thirty-six counties, and Fan County was established under the jurisdiction of Jiujiang County.
In the first year of Emperor Gaozu of the Han Dynasty (206 BC), Fan County was placed under the jurisdiction of Jiujiang County of Jiujiang State. In the fourth year (203 BC), he was subordinated to Huainan Kingdom. In the sixth year (201 BC), Xifan County was established as Xiaoyang County, with Siwangshan (now Sishan Mountain, Zhouxi Township) as its administrative seat, under the jurisdiction of Yuzhang County, Huainan Kingdom. In the sixth year of Emperor Wen's reign (174 BC), he was placed under the jurisdiction of Huainan County. In the twelfth year (168 BC), he was restored to the Huainan Kingdom. In the sixth year of Emperor Wu Yuanshuo (123 BC), he was under the jurisdiction of Jiujiang County. In the first year of Emperor Ping's reign (AD 1), he was assigned to Yuzhang County of the Yangzhou Governor's Department. In the second year of Xingping (195), Sun Ce divided Yuzhang into Luling County. In the fifteenth year of Jian'an (210), he divided Yuzhang into Poyang County, and Xiaoyang County was affiliated with Poyang County.
In the 10th year of Dakang of Jin Dynasty (289), it was under the jurisdiction of Poyang County in Yangzhou. In the first year of Yuankang (291), Jiangzhou was established in the two prefectures of Jingjing and Yang, and Xiaoyang County was subordinated to Poyang County in Jiangzhou. In the first year of Yong'an (304), it was changed to Xunyang County in Jiangzhou. In the second year of Yongchu in the Southern Song Dynasty (421), due to multiple subsidence movements in the Pengli Lake Basin, the lake water invaded southward, and most of the land in Xiaoyang County fell into the lake. Xiaoyang County was abolished, and the territory was transferred to Pengze County and placed under the jurisdiction of Jiangzhou. In the first year of Qi Yongming (483), it was restored to Xunyang County, Jiangzhou. In the first year of Liang Tianjian (502), he was under the jurisdiction of Taiyuan County, Jiangzhou. In the first year of Chen Yongding (557), it was changed to Yuzhang County in Jiangzhou. In the first year of Tianjia (560), he was restored to Xunyang County, Jiangzhou.
In the third year of Emperor Kaihuang's reign in the Sui Dynasty (583), Chen established the prefectures and counties and abolished them. Pengze County was renamed Longcheng County and placed under the jurisdiction of Jiangzhou. In the eighteenth year (598), Longcheng was renamed Pengze. In the third year of Daye (607), the state was abolished and placed under the jurisdiction of Jiujiang County.
In the fifth year of Wude in the Tang Dynasty (622), Li Daliang, the pacifying envoy, said that the land was rich, the wells were protected, and the water and land were obstacles, so he cut off the southern border of Yanzi Bridge in Poyang Lake and established Duchang County. Because there is a capital village in the area, it is connected to Nanchang in the south and Jianchang in the west, hence its name. A temporary government office was set up in Wangshi (today's Dongmenkou, Beiyan Township), under the jurisdiction of Haozhou, the governor's office of Jiangnan Province. In the 21st year of Kaiyuan (733), it was under the jurisdiction of Jiangzhou, Jiangnan West Road. In the ninth year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1376), the provincial government established the Jiangxi Chengxuan Government Envoy Department, which led the thirteen prefectures to be divided into five provinces, under the jurisdiction of Nankang Prefecture in Jiujiang Road. In the second year of Shunzhi in the Qing Dynasty (1645), Jiangxi Chengxuan Administration Department was renamed Jiangxi Province and was under the jurisdiction of Nankang Prefecture, Jiujiang Road, Jiangxi Province. In the ninth year of Kangxi (1670), he was subordinate to Nankang Mansion in Raojiunan Road. In the ninth year of Yongzheng's reign (1731), he was subordinated to Nankang Prefecture, Jiunan Military Preparation Road, Guangrao.
In the early years of the Republic of China, the government system was abolished. In the 3rd year of the Republic of China (1914), it was placed under the jurisdiction of Xunyang Road, Jiangxi Province.
