The first point of view

I used to have a household water purifier at home, the kind that provides direct drinking water, but it required frequent replacement of the filter element and occasional replacement of accessories! Later, it was the year before last! I just dismantled it and started heating hot water directly! I live in Beijing. Let’s not talk about the quality of Beijing’s drinking water, but let’s talk about scale. People who have lived in Beijing all year round should know this, right? When you boil a kettle, there will be a large layer of scale on the bottom!

Besides, the tap water in Beijing has a taste, and I can no longer drink it. But last year, a friend from Hebei came to my house for a few days. He drank the tap water once, and then asked me, do you drink it? Does the water in Beijing have a peculiar smell?

His family is from a rural area. He built a small foreign-style building by himself, and then drilled a well in the yard. The well water entered the high-pressure tank in the building through a water pump, and then supplied water to the small foreign-style building!

And the people at my friend’s place often just turn on the tap and drink water! No one has a water purifier! I would drink cold water directly when I went to his house. To be honest, the water had a slight sweet taste!

When he asked me, I remembered that when I first arrived in Beijing, my financial situation was not good and I often drank tap water directly. At that time, I clearly felt the strong smell of disinfectant! But now I can’t drink it anymore, I must be used to it!

After the water purifier was installed in my home, when the master who replaced the filter element came to provide service, I asked him what to do with the replaced filter element? He replied that he could just go downstairs and throw it in the trash can later!

For a moment, I felt like I had brought it upon myself! Because we buy a water dispenser in order to drink clean water, but the replacement filter element of the water dispenser is thrown away directly. Not only does it create garbage, but if it rains in the landfill, it will also pollute the groundwater, and then the water quality will be bad. If the water quality is not good, more people will buy water purifiers, and then more garbage will be produced... What the hell It’s an endless loop!

Water purifiers are indeed effective in purifying water, but... I hope that one day in the future we can drink water with confidence even when we don’t use a water purifier!

The second point of view

According to my experience, water purifiers need to be installed, especially in old communities. Even if you install a water purifier, try not to drink raw water, because the quality of the water may be up to standard, but can the "pipeline" meet the health and safety standards? Of course, people who have always been accustomed to drinking raw water will have no problem. When we were in the countryside, we drank water from ditches and mountain springs, and we rarely had diarrhea. After all, strenuous physical labor will cause a lot of sweating, which can detoxify.
