Maotai liquor is made by adding raw sand twice, fermenting eight times and distilling nine times. The whole production process lasted nearly five years.

Maotai liquor takes wheat as the main raw material, which can be fermented for eight times and stored for two or three years before leaving the factory. Its unique sensory indicators are: white wine is colorless and transparent, mellow and sweet when drinking, without suspended matter and precipitation, outstanding aroma, elegant and delicate, full-bodied, long aftertaste and lasting fragrance in empty cups. Fake "Maotai" is mostly made of sorghum wine, white dry wine and mixed wine. And it is difficult to have the characteristics of color, fragrance and taste of Maotai.
