With the popularization of the Internet, information technology has become more and more developed, and smart phones have entered thousands of households. At present, mobile phone operating systems are mainly divided into three categories, one is IOS system, one is Android system, and the other is Huawei's Hongmeng system. Of course, there is also market competition in this three-part world situation.
Recently, if you are well-informed friends, you will find that mobile phones installed with Huawei Hongmeng system can no longer download GMS (Google Service Framework Google Mobile Service). Why is this? Is there any problem between Huawei and Google?
As we all know, the mainstream operating systems for smartphones at the beginning were Android and IOS. Even though the mainstream operating systems were dominant, Huawei still insisted on independent research and development to develop its own operating system, which is really surprising. Be curious.
Many people think that the reason why Huawei developed its own HMS (Hongmeng Operating System) is because the operating system was limited, so it was forced to launch its own Hongmeng system in a short period of time. This is why there are so many The reason why people think Hongmeng system is unreliable.
But this is not the case at all. In fact, as early as 2012, Huawei began planning its own operating system "Hongmeng". On August 24, 2018, Huawei had applied for the "Huawei Hongmeng" trademark. This is much earlier than we suspected.
From the beginning of planning to August 9, 2019, when Huawei officially released the Hongmeng system, it actually took almost seven years. On May 23, 2018, Yu Chengdong excitedly announced that Huawei had developed the "exciting" technology of GPU Turbo (revolutionary image processing acceleration technology).
Then the Link EROFS file system was launched in December of the same year, and Turbo was launched only one month later in January 2019. At the 2019 Shanghai China Open Source Summit, Huawei's Vice President of Strategy and Industrial Development Xiao Ran officially announced that its Ark compiler was officially open sourced in August of the same year. The open source of Ark compiler shows that Hongmeng operating system has taken an important step towards the market. Now it will launch a self-developed programming language "Cangjie".
The emergence of HMS means that the ecological monopoly pattern may be broken. Huawei's performance has given Google a sense of crisis against such a rapidly growing competitor. Huawei's overseas developers said that more than 20 Huawei apps are often removed from Google's software store without reason.
This situation happens almost every day. Basically, the product is removed from the shelves on the grounds that there is a problem with it, or even without any notice. After a product is removed from the shelves, Google will give it three days or a week to make corrections and then put it back on the shelves. The entire product team often spends a lot of energy to make corrections all night long, and even appeals are useless in this situation, which makes developers miserable.
Of course, Huawei cannot remain indifferent to Google's "two-skinned" behavior. In March this year, Huawei launched a series of "counterattacks." Hongmeng system began to refuse to download GMS.
Friends who use Hongmeng system found that if they want to download Google GMS, the system will pop up a prompt that "Hongmeng system does not currently support Google Service Framework". This wave of operations by Huawei can be regarded as tit for tat.
According to data disclosed by the media, as of October 31, 2021, more than 220 million devices are equipped with Hongmeng system. However, what is interesting is that end users using Huawei Software Store (AppGallery) There are 730 million.
What does this mean? We all know that Apple's IOS system is a closed loop of its own and cannot be downloaded from other software stores. Then the only possibility is Android system. There are about 220 million devices equipped with Hongmeng system. So where do the extra 510 million users come from?
We know the results. In addition, because Huawei’s Google Play service does not support Huawei’s smartphones, it is very difficult for some overseas friends. Based on this, Huawei launched the Choice SDK software development toolkit so that APP developers can install Google applications on Huawei and Honor smartphones in a simpler and more convenient way.
Of course Google is also aware of this situation. On March 18, Google sent an email to APP developers of other companies. The content is probably: Because Hongmeng system can bypass Google Play to download and install software. Application, if the APP submitted by the developer is found to contain the HMS SDK, the APP will be removed from the shelves by Google after 120 days.
The warning is self-evident. The simple meaning of this email from Google is that if you want to continue to list your software in my app store, your APP cannot be related to my competitor's SDK. In short, your APP can only be put on one software store between Huawei and me.
Google would send such an email specifically to express that Huawei’s current status is enough to pose a threat to Google. Huawei has fully demonstrated with actions what it means: If you can’t defeat me now, then I will be stronger. Did Google not think of this consequence at the beginning?
