Qingyuan Ma Chicken is famous for its excellent meat quality. It is one of the 27 high-quality varieties in the "Chinese Poultry Breeds" and is also a famous breed in the poultry industry.

Since 1979, Qingxin County Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Bureau and other relevant departments have begun to sort out and breed this chicken breed, and study its feeding requirements; and established the Qingyuan Ma Chicken Breeding Farm, and began breed selection and hybridization Utilize research.

In 1998, Qingxin County Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Bureau established Qingyuan Fengzhonghuang Qingyuan No-Maj Chicken Development Co., Ltd., a large-scale breeding company specializing in the research, production, operation and development of authentic Qingyuan No-Maj chickens.

In 1999, the company successfully registered the trademark "Fengzhonghuang" Qingyuan Chicken, becoming the first company in the country to register a live chicken trademark.

In 2000, it was recognized as a leading agricultural enterprise in Guangdong Province by the Guangdong Provincial Government.

In December 2002, "Fengzhonghuang" brand Qingyuan No-Maj chicken was awarded the Gold Award for High-Quality Agricultural Products at the First Agricultural Expo in South China (Qingyuan).

In 2004, it was rated as one of the first batch of key agricultural leading enterprises in Qingyuan City by the Qingyuan Municipal People's Government.

In April 2005, in order to speed up the development of Qingyuan chicken industrialization in Qingyuan City, Qingyuan Fengzhonghuang Qingyuan Ma Chicken Development Co., Ltd. under the guidance of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Agriculture, Qingyuan Municipal Party Committee, Municipal Government and relevant departments , signed a cooperation agreement with Guangdong Tiannong Food Co., Ltd., starting from the original Qingyuan of Qingyuan No-Maj chickens, engaged in scientific research, breeding, production and sales of Qingyuan No-Maj chickens, and focusing on creating the "Fengzhonghuang" brand Qingyuan No-Maj chickens Became the "King of Qingyuan Chicken". Through reorganization, the original original breeder chicken farm, parent breeder chicken farm and feed factory were newly built, and the famous trademark of Guangdong Province was registered that year.

In 2006, Qingyuan Ma chicken was included in the national livestock and poultry genetic resources protection list by the Ministry of Agriculture. In order to develop the Qingyuan chicken breeding industry, the Qingyuan Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government also included Qingyuan chicken in the Qingyuan City's "Tenth Five-Year Plan" outline as part of the adjustment of the agricultural industry structure.

In 2009, in order to further maintain and improve the quality of Qingyuan chicken varieties, combat counterfeiting in the market, and maintain and enhance the Qingyuan chicken brand, the Qingyuan Municipal Government successfully applied for a national geographical indication.

In June 2010, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine issued an announcement to publicize the approval of Qingyuan Chicken geographical indication product protection. According to the announcement, the protection scope of Qingyuan chicken geographical indication products includes the current administrative areas of four counties and cities in Qingyuan City, including Qingcheng District, Qingxin County, Fogang County, and Yingde City.
