〖Specifications of traditional Chinese medicines〗: Commercial specifications of branched qin (tiao qin), zi qin, dried qin, and qinqin. Those with branched qin and sub-qin are of good quality, while those with dried qin are of inferior quality.

Hard and brittle, easy to break, yellow in cross section, reddish brown in the middle; old roots are dark brown or brown-black in the middle, flaky or hollow. Decoction piece: a cross-cut round slice, about 1mm thick, with yellow-green surface, obvious cambium ring, brown, dark yellow-green bark, yellow xylem, obvious duct group, arranged in discontinuous rings, yellow-brown center. 〖Main ingredients〗: This product contains baicalein, baicalin, wogonin, wogonin, baicalein, benzoic acid, β-sitosterol, etc.

〖Pharmacological effects〗: Scutellaria baicalensis decoction has a broad antibacterial spectrum in vitro, and is effective against typhoid bacilli, dysentery bacilli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, pertussis, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and meningitis. Diplococcus, etc. all have inhibitory effects. It also has inhibitory effects on influenza viruses, Leptospira and a variety of pathogenic fungi. In addition, it also has the functions of antipyretic, antihypertensive, diuretic, sedative, choleretic, hepatoprotective, reducing capillary permeability, and inhibiting intestinal peristalsis. Baicalin and baicalein have a relieving effect on allergic contraction of the isolated trachea of ??guinea pigs and allergic asthma in whole animals, and have a synergistic effect with ephedrine.
