Geological structure of Suzhou city
Suzhou city belongs to a dome of Huaibei basin in China-Korea paraplatform area in structural unit. The bedrock in hilly area is exposed locally, and the lithology is mainly Cambrian, Ordovician and Sinian dolomitic limestone. It contains some shale, sandstone and quartzite. Due to the influence of many crustal movements, rocks are broken, fissures and caves are developed, and water permeability is strong.
Quaternary loose sediments are widely distributed, and the lithology is cohesive soil, gravel and sand. There are east-west structural belts, Neocathaysian structural belts, arc structural belts and north-south structural belts in the area. From south to north, there are three east-west uplifts in Bengbu, Guzhen and Peixian, with relative depressions in between.
There is an east-west fault along Miao 'an, Huigu and Sipu lines in northern Suzhou, which controls the hydrogeological conditions in Huaibei. The relative rising area to the north of the fault is an alternating zone of strong bedrock groundwater runoff, while the bedrock groundwater runoff to the south of the fault is slow, and the water quality and quantity are obviously different from those in the north.
