Nu Wa is also called Nu Wa's family, Nu Wa Huang and Nu Xi's family, commonly known as Nu Wa Niangniang. He was originally an ancient clan leader in the legendary era of China, and later became the ancestor of human beings in China mythology. According to the documents of the Eastern Han Dynasty, the head of Nuwa was a snake (dragon). Located in Houcun Village, Zhaocheng Town, Hongdong County, Linfen City, Shanxi Province, and a national-level temple that has been honored and sacrificed by emperors of past dynasties for thousands of years, Nuwa belief culture can also be seen in other parts of Shanxi Province. Later generations, Nu Wa became a deity in folk beliefs and was worshipped as the ancestor of mankind and the god of marriage.

According to Taoist records, Nu Wa was an ancient goddess who was once emperor. It is one of the ancient gods, and it has become a god in the belief of later generations, and many people worship it in Taoism and Taoism.

There are many different opinions about the origin of Nuwa in folk beliefs, including "Nine Days Xuan Nv", "Earth Mother Goddess" and "Lishan Old Mother". These opinions have no relevant textual research in historical classics and Taoist collections.

It is said that both Nuwa and Fuxi are named Feng.

Zheng Kangcheng notes the Book of Rites according to Chunqiu Wei: "Nu Wa, san huang inherited Fuxi. "That nuwa is one of san huang. Sima Zhen also thinks that Nu Wa is one of san huang in Supplementary Historical Records and Biography of san huang. However, the Three Emperors and Five Emperors have always had different opinions, such as Biography of Shangshu and Century of Emperors, which excluded Nu Wa from san huang.

Hua Xushi is the mother of Nuwa and Fuxi. Ancient books often mention that Hua Xushi was born in Fuxi in Chengji because he stepped on a big footprint in Leize. Ancient China Xuguo is located in Hua Xu Town, Lantian County, near Xi 'an, Shaanxi Province. There are some related place names such as Hua Xu Valley, Nuwa Valley and Lianshitai.
