How to choose a sea pole? Commonly used sea rods are divided into two types according to their materials: carbon rods and fiberglass rods. The materials used in carbon rods are better than those in glass rods, and the price is slightly higher. However, more people now use carbon rods than fiberglass rods. According to length, there are 2.7m, 3m, 3.5m and 4m poles. Beginners and the elderly can choose a pole of about 3 meters. If you often fish in large water surfaces such as reservoirs and rivers, you should choose a rod of more than 3 or 5 meters. If you often catch small fish in ponds and weirs, you can use a 2.7-3 meter rod.
There is also a dual-purpose rod, also called a rocky rod. The rod is longer and equipped with a reel. It can be used for both hand and sea rods, but few people use this rod.
How to choose a sea pole? What kind of sea rod is good?
When choosing a sea rod, you must first look at the rod body to see whether the gloss of the rod body is good. If the color is dark and has a rough feeling, it is not a good rod. It also depends on whether the words and trademarks printed on the pole are clear and detailed. If the writing is fuzzy and the pattern is not clear, it is likely to be an imitation or shoddy product.
Pull out and straighten each section of the sea rod, hold the handle of the rod, and swing the rod in up, down, left, and right directions to test its softness and hardness. Look at where the bending point is. If there is only a slight bend in the rod, it means the hardness is good; if it bends from the middle of the rod, it means the hardness is insufficient and it is a soft-tuned rod. When swinging, listen to whether the rod body makes a clicking or scratching sound. If there is such a sound, it means that the connection between the sections is not tight and there are gaps. If there are such sounds, it is not a good rod.
In addition, check the wire loops and metal hoops
The wire loops and metal hoops on each section are mostly made of metal and are plated. Look at whether the plating finish is good. Pull each wire ring by hand to see if there is any looseness, whether the welding is firm, and whether there is a gap between the metal hoop and the rod body. Pay special attention to the wire loop at the top of the rod tip to see if the rod tip is welded firmly. Some pole tips are hollow. The manufacturer inserts the round nail under the wire into the hollow and pulls it out by hand. The author has bought such a sea rod, which is a reflection of poor quality.
