What is an LNG ship?

Liquefied Natural Gas Carriers (LNG)

The first two ships of the LNG project are owned by COSCO Group, China Merchants Group, Guangdong Yudean Asset Management Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Shipping Corporation, and Australian Natural Gas Co., Ltd. and U.S. Energy Transportation Group

and other six parties jointly invested, with a total investment of approximately US$400 million. It was constructed by CSSC Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd. The LNG ship is a special ship that transports liquefied gas at a low temperature of 162 degrees Celsius. It is a "three high" product with high technology, high difficulty and high added value. It is a "super refrigerated truck at sea". Currently, it is only available in the United States, Japan, South Korea and A few countries in Europe can manufacture it. The LNG ship to be built by CSSC has a hold capacity of 147,200 cubic meters, a cargo hold type of GTNo.96E 2 membrane type, a length of 292 meters, a width of 43.35 meters, a depth of 26.35 meters, and a design speed of 19.5 knots/hour. The first ship is planned to be completed and delivered in October 2007, and the second ship is planned to be delivered in early 2008.
