In 2011, the apple area in Pingliang City has grown to more than 1.6 million acres, with a certified standardized production base of 604,000 acres. The apple industry has become a leading industry in Pingliang City to develop rural economy, accelerate the construction of new rural areas and increase farmers' income. In 2011, the per capita fruit income of farmers was 2,650 yuan, accounting for 87.6% of the per capita net income of farmers in the county. In April 2013, the brand "Jingning Apple" of Gansu Jingning County Apple Production and Marketing Association won the title of China's Well-known Trademark.
