What is the application procedure for British trademarks?
2. Application process (in case of success):

(1) Formal review. After the application is submitted, the legality of the submitted application documents, trademark drawings, power of attorney and other documents will be reviewed. If they meet the requirements, the application date and application number will be awarded.

(2) substantive review. It is mainly to examine whether a trademark is registrable, whether the previously registered trademark is the same or similar to or violates the terms prohibited by the Trademark Law.

the examiner will notify the applicant in writing of the trademark that fails to pass the substantive examination, and inform the applicant of the reasons for rejection. Within the time limit from the date of receiving the notice of rejection, the trademark applicant may submit a reexamination, otherwise, the application will be regarded as abandoned, and the application date and application number will not be retained.

(3) announcement. After examination, the examiner thinks that the trademark application is acceptable, and then he will publish an announcement in the official trademark announcement in Britain. Three months from the date of announcement is the trademark objection period.

(4) Registration approval. A trademark that has been ruled to be registrable after objection, or a trademark that has been announced without objection, will be allowed to register and relevant registration certificates will be issued.

(5) The whole smooth application process (that is, there is no rejection, objection, etc.) takes about 9-12 months.
