Geographical indication trademark is a sign that a commodity originated from a certain region, and the specific quality, reputation or other characteristics of the commodity are mainly determined by natural or human factors in the region. It is a common practice in the world to apply for geographical indication certification trademarks to protect featured products. By applying for geographical indication certification trademarks, natural resources, human resources and geographical heritage can be reasonably and fully utilized and preserved, high-quality characteristic products can be effectively protected, and the development of characteristic industries can be promoted.

There are two ways to apply for registration of certification trademarks or collective trademarks:

(1) Entrusting a trademark agency registered in the Trademark Office.
