Introduction of Thai rice

Thailand will implement strict quality standards for Thai jasmine fragrant rice in the near future, and the purity of this rice must reach 92%, that is, after jasmine fragrant rice or fragrant rice 15 is mixed with other low-grade rice, the former accounts for no less than 92%.

In addition, the humidity should not exceed 14%. This quality standard was actually formulated as early as the beginning of 2002, but it has not been implemented. At the end of May, the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand began to conduct strict inspections on rice merchants, demanding that this requirement must be met if the title of jasmine fragrant rice in Thailand is used.

In order to take care of the interests of rice merchants, Thailand Consumer Products Standards Committee proposed a buffer period, that is, until July 30, rice merchants can still sell rice with a purity of 70% to 92% in the name of Thai jasmine fragrant rice, but rice merchants must indicate the mixing ratio of various kinds of rice on each bag.

In addition, in order to ensure the market, the Committee also suggested that the Ministry of Commerce stipulate that products that meet the standards of jasmine fragrant rice in Thailand can also use the title of jasmine fragrant rice or Thai fragrant rice.
