If the applicant does not live in Lithuania (except for applicants from EU member States), he must entrust a special agent in his own country to handle it. The basic materials needed to register a trademark in Lithuania are:
1. logo;
2. Specific categories and goods/services;
3. The name and address of the applicant;
4. Power of attorney;
5. If the priority is declared, the priority certificate and the corresponding Lithuanian translation shall be provided.
The main process of Lithuanian trademark registration application is: application, acceptance, examination, approval, announcement and issuance.
The application will be accepted about 2 weeks after submission. The examiner will conduct formal examination and substantive examination of the application.
Formal review mainly examines whether the application requirements and confidential information meet the requirements; The substantive examination includes the distinctiveness of the trademark and whether it violates the prohibition clause.
If the examination fails, a notice of rejection will be issued and the applicant will be required to give a reply within the time limit specified in the notice of rejection.
After the registration is approved, an announcement will be made. The objection period is 3 months from the date of the announcement, and any interested party or prior right holder may raise an objection.
