Canadian Trademark Registration Process
1. The applicant submits an application: Submit an application to the Canadian Trademark Office.
2. Formal review: An acceptance notice will be issued within 7 days of the application and a trademark number will be filed and assigned;
3. Substantive review: A substantive review will be conducted within 6 months of the application. If there are any problems A substantive examination report will be issued, and if there are no problems, an approval notice will be issued;
4. Trademark announcement: 5 weeks after the approval announcement notice is issued, the trademark will be announced for 2 months;
5. Objection period: If there is any objection, the trademark will enter the opposition procedure;
6. Approval for registration: If there is no objection, the trademark will issue a registration approval notice three months after the end of the announcement period, notifying the registration fee and intention to pay. Applications for use need to submit a trial oath after approving the registration notice;
7. Registration: Pay the registration fee within the time limit specified in the registration approval notice; intention to use must also submit an oath of use.
