On February 16, 2009, Jin Ahuan, a young man from Wenzhou, applied for the "If You Are the One" trademark to the National Trademark Office. On September 7, 2010, he obtained the "If You Are the One" trademark registration certificate No. 7199523, and the service items were approved as Category 45, including "dating services, marriage agencies", etc. Later, he opened a marriage agency under the name "If You Are the One". In the same year that Jin Ah Huan obtained the "If You Are the One" trademark, Jiangsu Satellite TV's dating program "If You Are the One" was launched. In 2013, Jin Ahuan took Jiangsu Radio and Television Station to court, claiming that the other party had infringed on his trademark. The Shenzhen Nanshan District People's Court held in the first instance that the name of Jiangsu Satellite TV's TV program "If You Are the One" is the same as Jin Ahuan's word trademark "If You Are the One", and Jiangsu Satellite TV's use of "If You Are the One" is a trademark use. However, Jiangsu Satellite TV's "If You Are the One" is a TV program, which is in a different category from Jin Ah Huan's trademark approval service. The two belong to different types of goods (services) and do not constitute infringement. Accordingly, the court dismissed Jin Ahuan’s prosecution.
