Qindou sweet potato is a specialty of Qindu District, Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province. Qindu District is located in Guanzhong Plain with mild climate. The planting area of sweet potato in China is nearly 20,000 mu, with an annual output of nearly 200,000 tons. Mangyuan Red Card is well-known in Shaanxi and even the northwest for its pollution-free, high flour yield and good flour quality. Qindou sweet potato is a national product protected by geographical indications of agricultural products.
Qindou sweet potato was planted in Ming and Qing Dynasties. In the 18th year of the Republic of China, there was a severe drought in Guanzhong, and sweet potato solved the hunger of thousands of children in Sanqin with its grain attribute of "potato in one season and a half". In the 1960s and 1970s, when food supply and demand were tight, sweet potato played a great role in solving people's food and clothing and surviving the famine. Since 200 1, Qin Dou District Party Committee and District Government have attached great importance to the development of sweet potato industry, and actively organized agricultural departments to strengthen technical strength and popularize plastic film sweet potato cultivation techniques. After years of hard work, a sweet potato industrial base with Mazhuang and Zhao Shuang as the main body has been initially formed, and it has gradually become a pillar industry for farmers to develop their family economy.
Zhao Shuang and Mazhuang Town, Qindu District, Xianyang City, have a long history of planting sweet potatoes because of the deep soil layer, less precipitation and no pollution. In order to enhance the competitiveness of sweet potato, the village branch called party member to brainstorm, actively joined hands with the sweet potato research group of Northwest A&F University to introduce new varieties such as "Qin Shu No.4" and "colored sweet potato", and invited experts to explain the cultivation techniques, pest control and other knowledge to the villagers through party member demonstration, and actively promoted mechanized planting.
At present, there are more than 280 members of Mangyuan Red Sweet Potato Farmers' Professional Cooperative in Qindu District of Xianyang City, which has driven the local people to develop 20,000 mu of sweet potato planting, with an annual income of more than 60 million yuan. Qindou sweet potato products are exported to Korea, Hungary and other countries and regions for their excellent quality.

Qindou Sweet Potato Planting Area is located in Mazhuang Town and Zhao Shuang Sub-district Office in the northern tableland of Xianyang, which is 15km away from Xianyang urban area, with the geographical coordinates of east longitude 108 o37'- 108 o45' and north latitude 34o 18'-34o 26'. Sanhe village in the east, Xiawangcun village in the south, Beilong village in the west and Xiangxiang village in the north, which governs 57 villages with a total area of 20,000 mu and an annual output of 60,000 tons of sweet potatoes.
