1. Bhutan's way of obtaining trademarks is based on the basic principles of registration;

2. Bhutan's Intellectual Property Management Law came into effect on April 4th, 1997, which made relevant provisions on the protection and registration of trademarks and service trademarks. Prior to this, the only form of trademark protection was to publish warning announcements in daily newspapers;

3. Bhutan can apply for multiple categories, and applicants can claim priority according to their own trademark registration;

4. Goods and services adopt the international Nice classification.
