Since Sui and Tang Dynasties, Chinese characters have been based on regular script, and simplified characters are also aimed at the simplification of regular script. Accordingly, the previous regular script characters were called traditional Chinese characters. So in principle, only regular script has the difference between traditional Chinese characters and simplified Chinese characters. Official script is in the transitional stage from seal script to regular script, with early official script approaching to seal script and late official script approaching to regular script. What we usually say now is official script, which is close to regular script. Although the font of official script is not based on regular script, it is not difficult to write a new official script according to simplified Chinese characters because it is very close to regular script. Running script can be regarded as the product of the integration of regular script and cursive script, and the font is based on regular script. So it is easy to write a new running script based on simplified Chinese characters. New official script and new running script are close to regular script, with more uses and social recognition. In this way, the concepts of complexity and simplification extend to official and running scripts. The glyphs of seal script and cursive script are not based on regular script, which is quite different from regular script. Therefore, after the font of regular script is changed, there is no basis for the font change of seal script and cursive script, and only a special simplification scheme can be formulated. Now there are few places where seal script and cursive script are used, and there is no need to change their glyphs in society. Even if someone makes a simplified plan, it is difficult to get social recognition.
