Types of rubber for table tennis rackets

There are five main types of rubber for table tennis rackets:

1. Regular rubber

Regular rubber is between long rubber and raw rubber. It is suitable for straight skaters. If you feel that your upper arms and abdomen are not strong enough, you can consider using positive glue. The advantage of positive rubber is that it is powerful and fast, suitable for hitting in the goal table. The disadvantage is that nowadays table tennis is mainly played in loops, and positive glue is not suitable for loops.

2. Anti-glue

The anti-glue particles are inward and the surface friction is large. The anti-adhesive rubber itself is very sticky, has strong friction, stable hitting, easy to control, and very easy to create spin. It has a good balance between speed and rotation, and is more forgiving - it is a loop type play or a loop combined with a fast attack type. The preferred method of playing is rubber. It is also the first choice for beginners to get started, which is very helpful for mastering basic skills and forming correct hitting movements.

3. Raw rubber

The rubber particles facing outward are shorter and the particle diameter is greater than the particle height. Generally, raw rubber has a higher gum content and good elasticity. The main characteristics are that the ball sinks, the friction is small, and the ability to actively create spin is weak. Generally, players with horizontal shots use raw rubber on their backhand for quick dialing, short swinging, and rebounding. The contrast between the hitting effect of reverse rubber on their forehand is very large, which can easily make the opponent miss the point, thereby increasing mistakes.

4. Long rubber

The characteristic of long rubber is that it has a poor ability to actively create spin. It mainly relies on the strong rotation or momentum of the incoming ball to increase the spin of the return ball. The advantage is that the greater the force, the stronger the rotation of long rubber. The smaller the force, the weaker the rotation. The performance is exactly opposite to that of ordinary rubber, so it often brings a lot of trouble to people who are not used to this kind of rubber. Long rubber is especially suitable for controlled play

5. Anti-arc rubber

The rubber particles on the reverse side are inward and the surface friction is small. Anti-arcing rubber was used to deal with looping balls, but now it is rarely used. This kind of anti-arc rubber has a smooth surface and is almost non-sticky. It is similar to long rubber when hitting the ball and cannot actively create spin.
