The Regulations on the Administration of Geographical Names stipulates that:
Article 4 Place names shall remain relatively stable. Without approval, no unit or individual may decide the naming or renaming of place names without authorization.
Article 5 The naming, renaming, use and cultural protection of place names shall abide by laws, administrative regulations and relevant provisions of the state, reflect local geographical, historical and cultural characteristics, respect the wishes of local people and facilitate production and life.
The naming of place names shall meet the following requirements:
First, the meaning is clear and healthy, and it does not violate public order and good customs;
Two, in line with the actual geographical entity, scale, nature and other characteristics;
Third, use the national common language and avoid using uncommon words;
Fourth, people's names are generally not used as place names, and the names of state leaders are not used as place names;
5. Do not use foreign names or place names as place names;
Six, do not use the enterprise name or trademark name as a place name;
Seven, the name of China's famous natural geographical entities, the name of the national administrative divisions at or above the county level, should not be duplicated, and avoid homophones;
Eight, the names of townships and towns within the same provincial administrative region, the names of the locations of villagers' committees and residents' committees within the same county administrative region, the names of streets and lanes within the same built-up area, and the names of residential areas and buildings with important geographical significance within the same built-up area shall not be duplicated to avoid homonyms;
Nine, shall not use the names of domestic famous natural geographical entities, historical and cultural heritage sites and geographical entities beyond the scope of their administrative areas as the exclusive names of administrative divisions;
Ten, with important geographical significance of transportation, water conservancy, electric power, communications, meteorology and other facilities, generally should be unified with the local names.
