Qingdao West Coast New District was established on June 3, 20 14. Qingdao West Coast New District is located in the west bank of Jiaozhou Bay, with a land area of about 2,096 square kilometers and a sea area of about 5,000 square kilometers.

The West Coast New District is an experimental zone for independent innovation of marine science and technology, a strategic support base for deep-sea development, an innovation demonstration zone in integration of defense and civilian technologies, an experimental zone for international cooperation in marine economy and an experimental zone for overall development of land and sea.
