A dozen villages including Haojiagou, Jijiazhuangzi, Sunjiagou, Duanjiagou, Xiangshui, Heishanzi and Nanyin around the ancient volcano group in Qiaoguan Town, Changle County, are located on the thin land of the mountains. , has been cultivating a traditional donkey's reins millet, and the millet milled from it is called donkey's reins millet. Because this grain grows in volcanic ash, it is also called volcanic millet. Speaking of this kind of millet, there is also a historical origin.
According to legend, the legendary Tieguai Li, Han Zhongli, Lu Dongbin, Zhang Guolao, Cao Guojiu, Han Xiangzi, Lan Caihe, He Xiangu and others traveled east together. One autumn, when they When they came to the Haojiagou boundary of Qiaoguan's land together, they found that there were towering mountains, towering strange trees, mountain springs and waterfalls, and the singing of birds and the fragrance of flowers. So Zhang Guolao suggested that they stay here for a few days. Everyone agreed with his suggestion and settled on Xiezi Mountain in the west of Haojiagou Village. Zhang Guolao tied his horse to a peach tree on the mountain. A few days later, maybe the donkey wanted to take a stroll around the mountain scenery, so it broke away from the reins and ran to a nearby grain field. When Zhang Guolao saw it, he hurried to drive it away. The more he drove, the more the donkey dragged the reins and ran around the mountain. It took him a while to catch the donkey. Then something strange happened. In the valley where the donkey ran, there were ears of grain, which were shaped like donkey reins. Because Zhang Guolao's fairy donkey ran across the valley dragging the reins, the villagers called this kind of grain "donkey reins millet".
According to the old man in Haojiagou Village, in the second year of Taiyan of the Northern Wei Dynasty (436), there was a general named Xu Liang in the Northern Wei Dynasty. During the war of leading troops to conquer Beiliang, he was killed. A Northern Liang soldier cut off an arm and could no longer lead troops in battle. After recovering from his injuries, he said goodbye to the court and wanted to return to his hometown in Hebei to take care of himself. When he took his family of more than 40 people to the north of Jijiazhuangzi Village on the border of Changle, he saw dense forests, green mountains and green waters. , the natural environment is elegant and pleasant. He asked the imperial court to settle down here, and the imperial court quickly approved his request and assigned him a fief. According to the Xu family tombstone unearthed from the Xu family cemetery, the scope of the Xu family's fiefdom is: Qiaoshan in the east, Yaoshan in the west, Taohuashan in the north, and Dagushan in the south. After Xu Liang settled here, he used the silver allocated by the court to build the Xu family courtyard, purchased a large number of cattle, donkeys and horses, and hired more than 60 servants. In addition to leasing most of the land allocated by the court to the surrounding villagers for farming, the Xu family, led by the old housekeeper Xu Wangcai, led the long-term servants to cultivate all the land in more than a dozen villages such as Jijiazhuangzi, Heishanzi, and Xiangshui. Reins millet. After harvesting, except for some of the seeds, the rest were handed over to the Northern Wei Dynasty. According to historical records, after making porridge with donkey reins and millet, the rice soup will be thick, fragrant and nutritious. It is most suitable for pregnant women, parturient women and the sick and weak. Therefore, most of the millet that the Xu family paid tribute was eaten by the empresses and concubines in the palace.
Later, in the third year of Emperor Wu of Zhou's reign (574), the Xu family was annihilated by the new dynasty. However, the donkey reins and millet have continued to be cultivated, but they are no longer used as tribute rice for the court.
It was not until the Qing Dynasty that Yu Yunzhong, a Jinshi from North Lijiahe, introduced donkey reins and millet from this area to other provinces. According to "Changle County Xu Zhi. Biography of Shi Gong": "Yu Yunzhong, named Zhuanyi, named Qiaodong, was a young man with a sharp mind. He often recited it after seeing it. After traveling, he studied Cheng Fushan. Every time he made a skill, it was spread all over the world. . All the famous people celebrated the festival, and Xin Wei became a Jinshi. He was appointed as the magistrate of Shenze County. "After Yu Yunzhong arrived in Shenze County. To develop local agricultural production, they introduced sorghum and millet from their hometown of Haojiagou to the mountainous areas of Shenze County for cultivation, and achieved bumper harvests every year. The millet that Yu Yunzhong led at that time was the millet on the donkey's reins.
