The construction of China's Women's Shoes Capital officially started in July 2002 and was officially awarded the license in 2006. Located in Wuhou District, Chengdu, it is a characteristic boutique park that conforms to the economic characteristics of the modern central city. It strives to cultivate a characteristic industrial cluster focusing on the shoe industry, especially women's shoes. There are more than 80 shoe-making enterprises in Sichuan Province gathered in and around the park. There are more than 1,200 enterprises directly engaged in shoe-making production, more than 3,000 enterprises involved in footwear-related industries, more than 300 registered trademarks of footwear products, and nearly 1,000 employees. With 100,000 people, it has formed a large-scale industry with supporting equipment, integrated production and marketing, an annual output of over 100 million pairs of leather shoes, and an annual output value of over 5 billion yuan. Among them, there are more than 1,100 women's shoe manufacturers, accounting for more than 90% of the total number of shoe companies in the region. Women's shoe production accounts for 98% of the region's shoe production, ranking third in the country. Wuhou's shoe industry, especially women's shoes, has become Chengdu's Characteristic and advantageous industries of the city and even Sichuan Province.
