1955, Yifenghe and Yuanfengyuan Sauce Gardens actively responded to the call of the government. Development history:
Pixian watercress originated in Kangxi period of Qing Dynasty (A.D. 1688). Chen Yixian, a native of Cui Xiang Village, Xiaogan Township, Yongding County, Tingzhou, Fujian Province, moved to Pixian County with his family. Because on his way to Sichuan, he filled his hunger with broad beans and was mildewed by rainy days. He couldn't bear to give them up, so he put them on the ridge to dry.
It's so delicious that it's called "Chili Douban" and sent to the neighborhood for tasting, which received rave reviews. Later, the centralized processing of this "pepper douban" for sale was also a plan to make a living. This is the prototype of Pixian watercress.
In the third year of Xianfeng (1853), with the continuous expansion of the "pepper douban" business, Yi Qian, a descendant of Chen Shouxin (No Chen), opened a shop in South Street of Pixian County, named "Yi Fenghe" sauce garden (current address number. 155, cultural relics protection unit of Pixian People's Government).
Chen Shouxin keeps on researching and improving the formula and technology, and its business scale is constantly expanding. The pepper douban of Yifeng and Jiangyuan also went out of Pixian County and spread to all parts of Sichuan, which was well received by the cooking industry and people's families. Because it is produced in Pixian County, it is commonly known as Pixian watercress. Since then, the production technology and product name of Pixian watercress have also been solidified and passed down.
Yifeng He Hao Sauce Garden is also regarded by later generations as the birthplace of authentic Pixian watercress. With the expansion of the influence of Pixian watercress, well-known sauce gardens such as Daoshengchang and Yuanfengyuan have been developed one after another.
