Generally speaking, Shangri-La in Yunnan is Zhongdian, the capital of Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan. Bordering Sichuan and Tibet, it has been the only pass of the ancient tea-horse road since ancient times. Zhongdian is about 3300 meters above sea level and belongs to the humid climate of plateau. The main attractions are Bitahai, Qianhu Mountain, Napahai (Ira Grassland), Songzanlin Temple, Shangri-La Canyon, Tiger Leaping Gorge and the First Bay of the Yangtze River.
Shangri-La, Sichuan is located in Daocheng County, south of Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan Province. At an altitude of 3,750 meters, it has a typical Tibetan hometown style, and its essence is the Young Gongga Risong Gongbu Shenshan Scenic Area in Aden Nature Reserve. The three snow peaks are arranged in the shape of a "pin", ranking eleventh among the 24 holy places of Buddhism in the world, and are a pure land in the hearts of Tibetans.
The two "Shangri-La" are more than 300 kilometers apart, both belong to Tibetan areas, with an average elevation of more than 3000 meters, featuring snow-capped mountains, plateaus, Tibetan temples and lakes. Shangri-La, Yunnan was developed earlier, and obtained the trademark of Shangri-La, with convenient transportation and accommodation. Shangri-La, Sichuan developed late and its traffic was backward. At present, only roads connect Chengdu, and the road conditions are not good and accommodation is difficult. But it is hidden in the virgin forest. The three towering mountains, supplemented by the spectacular Sichuan-Tibet line and the vast grassland, exude an ancient flavor and are fascinating.
