In 1970, the company’s predecessor, Nanwang Middle School Wuqi Chemical Factory, was established.

In 1973, this school-run factory was renamed Luancheng County Hongqi Pharmaceutical Factory.

In 1979, the company moved to Luancheng.

In 1984, after Li Zhenjiang took over the contract, he renamed the company Shijiazhuang Regional Pharmaceutical Factory.

On August 9, 1992, the company implemented joint-stock reform and Shijiazhuang Shenwei Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. was officially established.

In 1996, the company purchased the "Shenwei" trademark and realized the unification of the company name and trademark.

In 1997, all employees bought out state-owned shares, becoming the first company in Hebei Province to complete the shareholding reform.

In September 2001, the modern traditional Chinese medicine extraction and injection project was approved by the State Planning Commission as the "High-tech Industrialization Demonstration Project for the Integration of Advanced Process Units of Traditional Chinese Medicine Preparations and Automatic Control of the Production Process" and was included in the national high-tech industry Development project plan.

In November 2001, the most modern, intelligent, pipelined and technologically advanced modern traditional Chinese medicine extraction workshop in China was completed and put into operation in Shenwei.

In May 2001, Sunway Pharmaceuticals was awarded the National "May Day" Labor Certificate by the All-China Federation of Trade Unions.

In February 2002, the "Shenwei" trademark was rated as a well-known trademark in China.

In January 2003, all the company's dosage forms passed GMP certification, one and a half years ahead of the national regulations.

In November 2003, Sunway Pharmaceuticals’ “High-tech Industrialization Demonstration Project of Advanced Process Unit Integration and Automatic Production Process Control of Traditional Chinese Medicine Preparations” officially passed the national acceptance.

In December 2003, the "Shijiazhuang New Drug Research and Development Results Industrialization Base" project applied by Sunway Pharmaceuticals was included in the list of industrialization bases for the results of the "Tenth Five-Year Plan" National (863) Plan.

In April 2004, with the approval of the Hebei Provincial Department of Commerce and the Hebei Provincial Administration for Industry and Commerce, "Shijiazhuang Shenwei Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd." was reorganized into a wholly foreign-owned enterprise "Shenwei Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd." .

In June 2004, the company obtained the IMS certification certificate issued by the British BSI. It was the first group among Chinese patent medicine companies to pass the three-system integrated management system international certification of ISO9001, ISO14001, and OHSAS18001.

In December 2004, Sunway Pharmaceuticals was officially listed on the Main Board of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong, becoming the first domestic modern Chinese medicine company listed on the Main Board of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong.

In February 2005, Sunway Pharmaceuticals entered the list of the 200 listed companies with the largest market capitalization on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

In October 2005, the National Bureau of Statistics released information that Sunway Pharmaceuticals ranked among the top ten most profitable in the country's proprietary Chinese medicine manufacturing industry.
